Empty promises, excuses and passing the blame.

Over 3 weeks ago I ordered 2 Western Digital SATA hard drives on Takealot. On 5 December, (1 day before the delivery date) I received an email from a Jake Oliver that my order was delayed, but I should get it within 2-3 working days. I responded that the most important thing is that I receive them, and that only need them before the 24th.

Yesterday I get a message from Tholakele Ngele to say the order was cancelled. I immediately contacted Takealot to explain what had happened. I spoke to Lucretia Africa who put me through to a manager, who told me that they had sent a request to the supplier, and because they didn't respond in 24 hours the order was cancelled.

After explaining that I desperately need these drives, and that Takealot had left it until a day after the delivery date to cancel, she agreed to escalate my complaint to the product department.

This morning I received an email from Nomfundo Sakati who once again stated, the order was cancelled because they could not source these items from the supplier.

I contacted Takealot again, and spoke to a representative who didn't give me her name. I explained to her that I was in desperate need of these drives. She was particularly unhelpful, and told me that even if the supplier could source an alternative it would more likely than not be more expensive. I explained that I feel that Takealot should assist, given the circumstances. She too eventually agreed to escalate, but wouldn't commit to a turnaround time, and told me I would receive an email, not a phone call.

Unsatisfied with the vague details, I contacted Takealot once again and explained the situation once again. I was told that the management/supervisors were all in a meeting, and that I would get a call back from one of them by 4pm at the latest. This also never happened.

Again I contacted Takealot. Once again I spoke to a representative who didn't provide her name. I explained that a manager was to revert back to me, but it didn't happen. I left my contact number, but given my experience with Takealot up until now I doubt anyone will contact me.

Please Takealot, either you're willing to resolve this issue me or you're not.

Please don't keep trying to tell me that you're unable to assist, and blame the supplier for your negligence.

Either you want to help or you don't, it's as simple as that. Either way just give me a definitive answer.
