3RD PARTY INSTALLATION TRAP - TAKEALOT

If you are buying anything from Takealot that requires a third-party installation, DON'T.

Two weeks ago, I bought a dashcam from Takealot. I paid R850 out of my own pocket to have it professionally installed, only to find out the unit is completely faulty. It constantly freezes every single time I try to access the footage. Holding down the power button doesn't even work when its frozen.

I did my homework. I spent hours researching community forums online to try every troubleshooting avenue possible, but everything pointed to a hardware defect.

Takealot gladly approved the return of the device, but here is the catch-22: The installer wants to charge me again to uninstall the faulty unit.

When I escalated this financial predicament to Takealot, they completely washed their hands of it. They refuse to entertain any accountability for the knock-on costs of selling a defective product. To make matters worse, the issue was escalated internally to a consultant named Chad D, who simply stopped communicating altogether. An abrupt wall of silence is absolutely pathetic customer service.

Takealot is happy to take your money for cheap products masquerading as premium goods, but the moment a complex issue arises, you get ghosted. They got their money, the customer is left out of pocket for installation/uninstallation costs, and Takealot says "cheers." Absolute ******* service.
