eBook did not work after download

I purchased an eBook from Takealot. I have bought numerous other stuff from them. Downloaded the ebook with Adobe Digital Editions and then the book could not be opened. So I emailed Takealot support explaining the problem. 19 times. Every time they send email back, trying to help me, giving me options, try this, try that. Done everything. Still didn't work. So I tried to ask for my money back, but in their terms and conditions it states that there are no refunds on eBooks. Fine. I emailed once again asking for support, hoping /asking for my money back. Their reply:

Thank you for your patience.

We just received feedback from our product

The eBook is locked by downloading it without having Adobe Digital Editions authorised when you initially downloaded the eBook.

There is no way to reset or re-activate the link.

We also cannot credit you for this type of error and we sorry for all the inconvenience.

Have a great day.

Regards.

So what to do now? Throw away just over R200-00. As easy as that? Sorry for all the inconvenience? Is there anything I can do?
