Dont make promises that you do not intend delivering on

I placed an order fora walking ring on the 27th Sept , which was also paid for on the same day . the particular item was in stock and due for delivery on the 10th of Oct . this afternoon i find out that there is no stock of the walker and expected delivery is now the 3rd of December . Literally two month later . My niece might start walking on her own by then . Why did they wait 14 days later to let me know they never had stock of the item . now they want to give a refund . Why not refund me sooner , so i could buy the walking ring sooner from another retailer . my niece turns eight months tomorrow and i have no gift to give her . Really heart broken and upset .
