Don't buy edibles from Takealot

2 stars because until now I have had good service from Takealot, but today they really disappointed me.

Takealot is probably of the best online stores in the country when it comes to non-edible products. But be very careful when purchasing anything edible.

I received a bad batch of coffee from Takealot, which is understandable, it happens. I opted to return it and they rep**** with this:

This email serves as an update on your recent return request for the 1 kg Street Coffee 100% Arabica Ground Filter Coffee. Kindly note that your return has been approved for collection and the courier team will contact you to confirm the collection date. Please ensure the item is packaged with the return reference clearly marked on the outside of the box. Once the return has been received at the warehouse, we will credit you the amount paid.

Sounds good except when it arrived at their warehouse they said its a non-refundable product. Then why did I get an email saying it would be refunded? Why did I even have the option to return it? I could have used the coffee in my garden, but now I have no coffee and no refund (which was promised).

When you buy food from someone you are essentially trusting them with your life. I almost landed up in hospital from a bad batch of protein shake before, Clicks returned the item ,refunded me and notified the supplier that the batch was faulty. That is an appropriate response when something you sell could potentially make your customers very sick or even kill them.

Takealot has demonstrated a terrible lack of responsibility in this regard, and I don't suggest buying anything edible from them if you value your money and your life.
