Don't buy expensive items - warranty pointless

<p>It is with great sadness, having been an active takealot customer, that I feel I need to warn potential customers of purchasing expensive items on takealot.com.</p> <p> </p> <p>In Dec 2015 I bought a new LG G4 on takealot on sale - a decent discount was obtained. Less than 10 months later my phone has a bootloop software problem and is completely unusable. My phone was sent in for repairs and takealot provided a refund, but I wanted a replacement as the phone was still within a 24 month warranty. Takealot just doesn't assist. They say my problem is with the supplier and its not their problem.</p> <p>The problem with takealot is that despite numerous requests they are not willing to take om the warranty issue with the supplier for me. Then a warranty on takealot means nothing! </p> <p>The refund supp**** is insufficient to purchase the same phone or a similar one with the same specifications. And then I'm back at what was the point of saying there's a 24 month warranty on the phone if it's not going to help me when something technical is wrong on the phone. </p> <p>Unlike Amazon, takealot does not clearly indicate when an item is supp**** by an external supplier or give you the opportunity to review the supplier as Amazon does. On any product on Amazon one can clearly see if the order is being fulfilled by an external supplier as it is visible underneath the picture of the product. If I go into my order history there is no indication that the phone was supp**** by an external supplier, which makes me wonder whether takealot is maybe even just avoiding replacing my phone? Even in the order tracking, I ordered my phone on the Sunday and by the Monday it was ready for dispatch. No visible delays due to a supposed external supplier. </p> <p>Surely a manufacturer error on a phone should also relate to a supply chain issue that should be resolved in the supply chain, yet takealot is just blocking me and not even offering to take on the supposed supplier of the phone. </p> <p>If you don't have money to lose, don't buy an expensive sale item on takealot. When it breaks the warranty means absolutely nothing. I've lost the value of R3,000.00 in this instance. </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
