Do not trust Takealot!!!
I bought a vacuum cleaner from Takealot on 18 December (It was on special for just about 50% off). I collected it on 19 December. On 31 December I informed them that the vacuum cleaner was defective and asked for a replacement. Collection was scheduled for 2 January. I informed them that I want to re-schedule the return as I will not be home. On the 2nd the courier phoned me to et me know that he is at my home to collect. I rushed home and handed him the vacuum cleaner. Later in the afternoon, I received a notification that the collection had been cancelled. After a number of e-mails and phone calls, on the 5th of January it showed a new collection which was then concluded. I was informed on 8 January that Takealot cannot replace the vacuum cleaner as they had no stock. I was given a credit. On 28 January I finally found another vacuum cleaner that I thought was suitable. A 2200W Cordless vacuum cleaner. When I ordered, I paid the difference (it was more expensive) and my order showed that I could pick it up around the 28th. This suited me as I would be in meetings on the 28th but could then collect on the 29th. When I checked on the 28th, it suddenly showed that the product can be picked up from 2 February. I contacted Takealot about this, but was just told they had no stock and had to wait for the supplier. Not long after, I was informed that the vacuum cleaner could now be collected from 5 February. Again, I contacted Takealot and was being told that they are waiting for the supplier. Eventually, when I phoned again, I was told the enquiry would be escalated. I then received a call saying the parcel was scanned into the depot, but they cannot find it. I was then informed, via FB, that the parcel was "Lost in Transit" and will be re-ordered and replaced and I could collect it from the 16th of February. At this time I was frustrated and not at all happy. No feedback from Takealot. Today, 14 February I get a notification that I can go and fetch my vacuum cleaner. I was so excited ... to say the least! Rushed right over, as I was already in town. I was handed the package, and I immediately was concerned as the parcel was extremely light. I asked the attendant if I may open the box as I am very worried that it is so very light. He agreed and even assisted with a Stanley knife. I opened the box (quite large) and inside, surrounded by bubble wrap was a much smaller box. Again, I informed the attendant that something is not right and that I cannot believe that a FULL VACUUM CLEANER of 2200W would be this small. I asked if I could open it as I might be wrong. I opened the box which had no make or model number on it. When I opened the box, I realized that, not only was it not the product I originally ordered, but it was also a 150W vacuum cleaner. The original vacuum cleaner was a 2200W Strong Power Upright Vacuum Cleaner worth R996. What was sent to me was a 2-In-1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner worth R346. As it had no Make or model I tried to find similar vacuum cleaners online. I finally found it was a Nigerian make vacuum cleaner that can be bought online for about R250. I immediately lodged a return for refund. The return was made immediately and was approved for return. I have not heard anything about a refund. TAKEALOT, I need answers NOW!!! Please refund immediately as this has now been going on for too long.
