Do NOT buy phones from Takealot

I've purchased a Samsung S7 Edge from Takealot in June 2017. In August, 3 months later, I dropped and cracked the screen. It was still under Samsung 1 year warranty, so I took I printed my proof of purchase / invoice off of Takealot's site and went to Samsung. Samsung advised that they cannot repair the screen without an invoice stating date of purchase and IMEI number. I've contact Takealot to get a proper invoice with the IMEI number. After making me wait a few days, they inform me that they cannot do so. They stated that they do not keep track of IMEI numbers, and that there's nothing they can do about that. This is shocking... basically, if you buy a phone off of Takealot, you do not qualify for Samsung warranties as no records of IMEI numbers are tracked by Takealot. At Samsung, I was informed that there has been a few customers from Takealot who have come in and had the same issue. This means that they are not putting measures in place to prevent this issue from occurring in the future. Due to Takealot's negligence, what was supposed to be a free screen repair costed R6000 +. Takealot is hard to get through too, they do not list proper contact numbers online. Buying their products online is not an issue, but getting proper service afterwards is a nightmare. Takealot has yet to contact me providing a solution. All I got was a letter saying that they do not keep track of IMEI numbers. Disgusting service.
