DO NOT BUY HIGH-VALUE ITEMS FROM TAKEALOT.
My experience has been nothing short of a masterclass in customer neglect and refusal to accept responsibility.
During the Black Friday 2025 sale, I invested a significant amount in an 85" television. The TV was delivered on 27 November, and upon unboxing, it had a massive crack across the screen. The delivery team refused to inspect it, stating they were "just delivery guys," leaving me no chance to check before signing.
What followed was a two-month email marathon with Takealot that exposed their complete disinterest in resolving legitimate issues.
The Runaround: 1. I immediately provided 16 clear photos of the damage and packaging. 2. I was passed between Nabeel, Tara, Fayzel, Nwabisa, and Sinovuyo—each one kicking the can down the road. 3. Promises of "escalation" and "management review" were used as delay tactics. I was told the matter was "actively" being investigated, only to be met with weeks of silence. 4. When I urgently followed up, citing their 30-day returns policy, my emails were ignored until after the deadline passed. 5. The final, insulting "resolution" came from Sinovuyo on 19 January 2026: "The crack could have occurred while the item was in storage, and unfortunately, there is no way to determine liability... we are unable to assist."
The Takealot Logic (or Lack Thereof): • They admit the damage could have happened in *their* storage. • Their delivery team refuses to let customers inspect. • Yet, the customer bears 100% of the cost for their undetermined failure.
My polite, persistent, and evidence-backed requests were met with a wall of apathy. Their so-called "investigation" was a sham, concluding with a shrug and a rejection. This is not about a damaged TV anymore; it's about a company that hides behind vague policies, uses endless escalation as a stalling tactic, and outright abandons customers after taking their money for expensive goods. Save yourself the immense frustration and financial risk. Take your business to a retailer that stands behind the products they sell. I am now left with a massive, expensive piece of junk and zero faith in Takealot.
