Dishonouring consumers and false advertising

I am a regular user of Takealot and have overall had a good experience from them, however my latest order was (mis)handled in a totally unfair and distasteful way leaving me very disappointed. On Saturday 10 September I shoped for a gift for my daughter and placed Order Number: ********** , item "My Table Top Easel" was on special and indicated as "in stock" together with two other items. Immediately after I checked out and received their invoice I did an eft payment and emailed them proof. On Tuesday morning I still haven't heard anything from them so I resent proof of payment. Only then did they confirm payment received and was soon notified of scheduled delivery. On Wednesday morning the oder was delivered only to find the other two items but no"My Table Top Easel" and no delivery note. I phoned mrD courier to enquire about the incomplete order but was told that the easel was out of stock and therefore canceled. A Takealot representative phoned me later to say that the product has sold out, other people shopped after me but because their payment was received before mine the items were given to them. Nowhere was I informed that there was a problem with the order only until I received an incomplete delivery and investigated myself. What is totally unacceptable is that I place an order, they send me an invoice for it with the option to do an eft, I do payment immediately and send them proof - meaning that I've done my part, then they still go and give it to other people who manage to throw money at them quicker than I can; irrespective of the sales agreement that they gone on with me first and that I have immediately comp**** with. If they treat eft with such dishonour why do they give it as an option? They offered to pay my money back as if they have done the noble thing and can now send me on my way... I didn't want my money back I want the product that I purchased, why else would I use their service and go through all the effort? Why on earth should I carry on supporting "SA's favourite online store" if this is the way they treat their clients, or do they love themselves so much that they start approve walking over them?

Hello SNKneh,

We are so sorry for the unpleasant experience with this order.

It was not our intention to disappoint you and we apologise for the poor communication regarding the cancelled item.

We have tried to reach you telephonically without success and have sent you an email in the meantime.

Kindly awaiting your reply.

Good day

Thank you for your reply. I understand the part of items running out of stock but if you read my original complaint on hello Peter you will see that it is not the main issue.

When I placed the order and payed via eft there was still stock available. Now you say that by Tuesday, when the money cleared, it was sold out. So although I payed and sent proof you didn't reserve my order till it cleared but gave the remaining items to people who bought it after me. How can you justify that or call it good service or good business? Why do you still allow eft's if you then disregard it in such a way? Further you didn't notify me about the issue but just sent the halforder out on delivery and leave it to me to put two and two together. The day before I needed it.

So in the end I must be content with a "sorry" and "that's the way it is," well I can choose where I can shop and to whom I give my loyalty. Stop saying that "you're not happy if I'm not happy" because you do business the way it suits you and don't care about good practice or your customers happiness.
