Disgusting service

The 26th of March marked the purchase of a yoga ball, a purchase born of desperate need. My son requires it urgently for physiotherapy, a vital preparation for a major operation he is to undergo soon. This is a burden made heavier by the fact that our son so nearly lost his life in 2024. In my desperation, I turned to Takealot, placing my faith in their services. I carefully confirmed its availability in Cape Town and the promise of next-day delivery, for which I gladly paid an additional fee. It cannot be overstated how crucial this physiotherapy is for his upcoming surgery.

Yet, the delivery promise fractured. What was to be a Friday arrival shifted to Saturday. As Friday bled into the weekend, the projected delivery date lurched to April 2nd. My immediate contact with Takealot was met not with understanding, but with a frustrating dismissal: 'Sorry, nothing we can do; it's in transit from Durban.' I pleaded, explaining their obligation to have the ball in Cape Town swiftly, but was met with the same refrain: 'It's in transit.' I requested a manager's intervention.

Monday brought a call from a manager. I reiterated the profound urgency, the agonizing truth that my son's health and the success of his surgery were now precariously balanced on Takealot's operational failures. I was beside myself with anger. Yet, the response remained unchanged: 'We cannot do anything; it is in transit.' I find it unfathomable that a journey from Durban could take six to seven days, and to compound this, the fact that I paid for next-day delivery is seemingly disregarded. The anger that burns within me is immense. To have paid extra for speed, and to have overlooked the years of loyalty and thousands of rands spent with Takealot, only to receive this treatment... it is a bitter pill to swallow. To hell with my son's health and to hell with me, a consistent shopper. YOUR ORGANIZATION'S INEPTITUDE IS APPALLING, AND I WILL NOT REMAIN SILENT. ONCE MORE, MY SON'S LIFE HANGS IN THE BALANCE, IN TAKELOT'S HANDS!!!!"
