Disasterous Customer Service

My husband and I have ordered quite a few items from takealot in the past and have always been quite happy with the quality and the service. My most recent order has been very different.

After receiving my paint spray gun, I was so excited to use it. I followed the instructions and begin to paint. After 20 minutes of pathetic power, the battery overheated and stopped working. The product was of poor quality and faulty.

I then logged a return that afternoon stating that it was damaged and awaited confirmation of collection. This was on Sunday the 9th of April. I received an email from Lesley-Anne Losper who confirmed the parcel would be collected on Tues 11th April. So...I waited, and waited and waited. It is now the 20th of April and after no less than 15 emails between myself and Lesley the parcel has yet to be collected.

She did telephone me on Tuesday, for the first time in this whole ordeal, to tell me that the item would be collected the following day, it wasn't.

Not only was the product defective, the customer service has been appalling and inconvenient. If I had purchased the item in a shop my refund would have already been processed. I have been in touch with Cart Blanche and my local radio station ( East Coast Radio) and have been told that my consumer rights have been violated as the item has not been collected. They are also looking into this issue as I am not the first person to be complaining.

My next move is contact 5FM and after this email I plan to upload it "Hello Peter" a website that rates and deals with companies like yours.

I come from the UK and therefore I have always enjoyed online shopping...not in South Africa.

What a disappointing and disastrous ordeal this has been.

Regards,

Sarah Henderson
