Disappointing Experience with Takealot – Poor Product Quality and Return Refusal

I ordered a dressing table from Takealot, and unfortunately, the experience has been very disappointing. Upon attempting to assemble the item, the wooden planks began cracking almost immediately. I only managed to assemble five planks before stopping, as it became clear the quality of the wood was extremely poor, flimsy, and not durable.

Due to the substandard quality, I submitted a return request. The item was collected, but I was later informed that my return could not be processed as the item was “used.” This is confusing and unfair, as the majority of the planks were not even assembled, and it’s impossible to determine the item’s quality without attempting basic assembly.

I made it clear that I would not accept the item back and that I wanted a full refund. Despite this, the item was sent back to me and delivery was refused on my side.

I paid R1800 for this product, and the service and resolution from Takealot have been deeply disappointing. I expected better quality and customer care, especially when the product was clearly not fit for purpose.
