Disappointed in Takealot

I have always loved buying through Takealot but unfortunately this time I did not have such a good experience. I bought a Sodastream Jet Start Kit through Takealot in January 2018. I bought it as a gift to give to my sister for her birthday end of January. Unfortunately the bottle cap was not in the box. I contacted Takealot several times trying to explain but they were unwilling to assist me. They advised me that the 7 day window has passed and that they regrettably were unable to facilitate. However I did not open the package as it was a gift and my sister only discovered that something was missing after the 7 day window. I tried explaining to them but they kept on telling me they unfortunately cannot help me. I was really upset with their service. I contacted the supplier Sodastream directly and they were amazing. I don't understand why Takealot was so unwilling to help me. They could have contacted the supplier on my behalf but was unwilling to assist me. I would therefore recommend anyone buying from Takealot to not buy things that you are planning to give as a gift/present to someone.
