Deplorable and arrogant

Takealot had allegedly attempted twice to deliver a fridge to the address specified in the order, but failed to do so because the delivery person could allegedly not locate the premises - the ONLY retirement village in the town, which consists of 80 houses and which is very visible, and with a clear name sign which is as visible.

The delivery person didn't try to contact the customer or to request directions or assistance. Instead, the delivery person drove a 3-hour round-trip (twice!) without delivering the item (a large fridge).

Takealot's claim of being “unable to locate the address” is both implausible and frankly insulting. Takealot delivers to this same address weekly. Another item I’ve ordered previously, a few months ago, has even been successfully delivered to this exact location before without incident.

The courier’s failure to make a simple phone call for directions suggests either negligence or a complete lack of common sense.

If a delivery person cannot perform the most basic requirement of their job—locating an address already well known to your system—and fails to take initiative to contact the client, then they are clearly unfit for duty.

The customer service response thus far has been dismissive and formulaic, adding to the frustration. A company of Takealot’s scale should not need a lecture on the basics of follow-through and accountability.
