Delivery times and service have gone from 100 to 10!
So I've used Takealot for over a year. At first, the deliveries were quite fast but definitely not the 2 to 7 days they advertise for the "free shipping". On numerous occasions I have ordered items and waited 3 weeks for delivery. The reason for the delays is usually the supplier doesn't supply the stock to Takealot. If a vendor on Takealot doesn't have an item on hand it should NOT be advertised for sale! So in my latest order I've been waiting 3 weeks. I have telephoned repeatedly. They held up a R2500 order for a R250 item that they were "waiting for". Does that make sense? If, after a week, the item hasn't arrived at Takealot the buyer should be informed and either opt to wait or cancel the particular item. I've had to phone Takealot MULTIPLE TIMES about different orders. This last order I phoned Takealot yesterday and I said "You're holding up a R2500 order for a R250 product. Just cancel it and credit my Takealot account". They promised to deliver to me yesterday. So I plan to be here to take delivery of the items but when I check my Takealot app it says delivery is tomorrow and I WON'T BE HOME. Also, I'm not receiving SMS or email notifications about delays or ANYTHING. The only way for me to determine what's going on is to phone Takealot myself. Another big no no! If Takealot has grown too big it needs to employ more staff. Plain and simple. They need to jack up their system as it would appear they are not coping with the order load and aren't giving the service they used to!
