Degrading customer service (once it was so good!) What has happened to Takealot?

This started out as a small technical issue on the part of Takealot, but the manner in which it has been handled has convinced me that I will never shop at Takealot again.

The technical issue was this: When trying to purchase an item on their daily items list, it was advertised at a certain price, and then at the time of check out, it was more expensive than the advertised price. Of course I queried this with Takealot, and once dealing with their 'customer care' team, this is where things went downhill at a rapid pace.

The first response I got was to provide proof that the item was at a higher price when checking out. Great, so first up, Takealot question my integrity when I point out their error.

I then got a phone call from an uncaring, dimissive agent who sounded like she couldn't care less what I thought, and not once, never, uttered anything remotely like an apology. She sounded like she just wanted to go home, and wasn't listening to anything I said. She said that the deal was sold out when I was on the website, and hence when I clicked on the item, it gave a different price. I queried why with other items that were sold out, they had a big 'DEAL SOLD OUT' banner over the item, and could not be purchased, but this item, instead of doing that, just gave a higher price? She could not answer this.

Further emails with takealot, still not a single apology.

Then the phone call from Jay Horn, who again, apologised for nothing, and when asked the above, why the website is inconsistent when an item is sold out on a daily deal (sometimes it says sold out, and it cannot be purchased; sometimes it gives a higher price). Her answer - 'Takealot of working on these technicalities'. Still no apology, and making out if the fault is mine, and Jay Horn could not care less.

I knew I should never have taken that call from Jay Horn, and wasted more of time. I will not shop at Takealot again. Funny thing, it wasn't the technical issue that brought me to this decision, but rather the manner in which they dealt with it.

Poor, poor service from a company I once held in high regard in terms of their service. You will not be seeing me again Takealot, and I can only assume that if you continue this appalling service, and leave people like Jay Horn to speak to your customers, many others will follow suit.
