Declined Return of defective product

I ordered a tent for a camping trip. Upon receiving the tent I didn’t bother opening it but rather put it in my car with the rest of my things for the trip. Whilst carrying the tent to my campsite, the bag ripped open and everything fell out.

I returned it to takelot only for them to decline my return stating the damage was my own negligence.

I didn’t realise that you shouldn’t carry a tent by the carrying handles and that this would be considered negligence.
