Damage to desk and Takealot lying about product description

I bought a black desk-pad from takealot (desk-pad supp**** by HEARTDECO). The pad was advertised as “protects your desk from scratches, spills, STAINS, heat and scuffs”. The pad actually STAINED my desk itself. The black came off. Now takealot tells me: Hi there, thank you for your patience. We have been informed by the Seller AND THE PRODUCT TEAM that regrettably, we cannot assist as the item purchased was intended as a Heartdeco Large PU Leather Desk Mouse Pad Comfortable Writing Mat - Black. The description does not stipulate that it will protect a table. So now I sit with two companies lying about the product, having no self respect. In te meantime the product has been removed from the store. I am disgusted that companies can lie like that and think people are stupid. I am taking legal action now as the desk is worth much more than the pad.
