Customer service keeps getting worse

Perhaps it is the memory of having my son's Christmas present almost not arrive in time if it wasn't for much time spent pleading with the agents at takelot to stick to their ORIGINAL delivery date, or perhaps it was the time when the incorrect goods were delivered that have sensitised me to Takealots disregard for customer service.

But today was the final straw. Never again. An order that was communicated would be delivered by 17h00 on the 5th July hadnt arrived by 18h00. I called the helpdesk (the number is not easy to find) and spoke to Ashley, who convinced me he would communicate to SkyNET couriers to have it delivered by 10h00 on the 6th July (today). This was important as no one would be here to receive the goods for the rest of the week after this time. I suspected that this was too good to be true, so at 09h00, I contacted my wife to see if the goods had been delivered and of course they hadnt.

I called the helpdesk again and spoke to (?) Siphokazi who said she would investigate and call me back. She didn't. So I called again, and spoke to Melissa, who said she saw Siphokazi was busy updating the ticket and would call me back within 2 minutes. Of course this didn't happen either.

Eventually, I managed to get hold of the supervisor Aysha, who was very apologetic and said she would speak to the courier company (who has a representative in the same building) and call me back, so she could give me an EXACT time to be home to get the goods. Almos 2 hours later and I still have no idea when to be home.

So I have cancelled all my meetings to be home to collect the goods. I suspect I will never get a call back from Takealot, but that's probably OK, because I won't be calling or using them again in future. Perhaps one day, when they realise that online retail is growing rapidly and they are no longer the only players in the market, they will look back and realise their poor treatment of customers was what lead to the business filing for closure. I can hope...
