Complete disregard for CPA
In all my years as a Takealot customer I have never had a single issue with them. Until now... I bought a washing machine from them (delivered on the 24th of December 2021), the first time I used it it made a terrible noise during the spin cycle. I made sure all stabilisers were removed, the machine was level, it wasn't overloaded and tried again. Nope same thing. Email Takealot and am told to log a return which I do, immediately get an email to say the item cannot be returned and I must deal with the warranty holder. Warranty holder tells me that they have had a few complaints about this machine bought through Takealot and I must contact Inus Maree at Takealot and insist they collect the machine and refund me. After not receiving a response from Inus I sent Takealot a Facebook message. After a back and forth and providing the email from the manufacturer stating Takealot must collect and refund, this is their response: Hi, unfortunately, we are unable to assist with the return of your machine. The product is under manufacturer warranty and the information on our website viewing the product indicates the following "Carries a warranty as defined by the manufacturer - please make sure that you register your warranty with the original manufacturer after purchase. Takealot cannot facilitate any warranty claims besides delivery damages, please contact the manufacturer directly for any warranty claims." So Takealot will not take the machine back and refund me, the manufacturer will not assist and I sit with a machine that cost me R5500 but can't use it. In terms of the CPA I am well within my rights to request a refund for a defective product. But Takealot seem to not give a damn about their customers or the law!
