Complaint Against Delivery Rider in Tzaneen – Safety & Compliance Concern

Good afternoon,

I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding an individual who identified himself as Katlego Moponja (as stated by him), claiming to work for Takealot Tzaneen. I also request the attention of Mr D, as it is possible he may be affiliated with Mr D Tzaneen instead.

At approximately 11:50 on 16 February 2026, in Tzaneen, I encountered this individual riding a motorcycle in my lane and traveling in the wrong direction. I flashed my headlights to alert him to the danger. As I passed, he responded with vulgar hand gestures and shouted at me — despite clearly being in the wrong.

I immediately pulled off the road. The rider then turned and charged toward me. When I exited my vehicle, he slowed slightly. I told him he was on the wrong side of the road. He rep****, “I know — what about it?”

I then noticed the motorcycle had no number plate. When I asked whether he had a valid driver’s license, he rep****, “No, I don’t have a driver’s license.” I proceeded to take photos of him and the motorcycle.

This raises serious concerns:

How can delivery personnel operate vehicles without a valid driver’s license?

Why is a motorcycle without a number plate being used for deliveries?

A vehicle without proper registration is not roadworthy and poses a danger to the public.

The rider’s aggressive behavior and taunting when confronted only compounds the concern.

My questions to Takealot and Mr D:

What verification processes are in place to ensure delivery drivers are properly licensed?

How are vehicles checked for legal compliance and roadworthiness?

How do you ensure the safety of the public when allowing drivers who may not meet legal requirements to operate on public roads?

This incident was not only ******** but also dangerous and intimidating. I believe this matter deserves urgent investigation to ensure public safety and accountability.
