Buyer beware - Takealot customer service not up to scratch
I bought a Raidmax computer chair in June. This chair cost close to R4000 and was a treat item for me. I don't game, but I am an online teacher, so a lot of my working day is spent sitting down. It arrived from Takealot on June the 15th. It took two months to assemble as I have multiple disabilities which made assembling the chair a tedious task. I used it for about a month before it broke due to a structural fault/manufacturing fault. The chair does not get heavy use in terms of lots of moving around or anything remotely damaging. It was my busy time of year, and I was unable to check it out and send a return request to Takealot straight away. I logged a return request on the 15th of December (6 month mark) but was only able to schedule a return later in December. Initially, I messed up by not having the correct packaging to send it back in, but rescheduled the return and later sent it back safely packaged. The vehicle that they sent on both occassions was actually inadequate in terms of size for transporting this item as well, so I was worried that the item would get damaged in transit as the driver had to push and strain to get it in the back seat of his car. This chair also came with a 12 month warranty from Raidmax which covers manufacturing faults. Takealot customer care staff are refusing to honor any returns/replacements/refunds etc. due to it not being returned within 7 days of delivery. I have sent photos and explanations as to what occurred and the correspondants keep copy pasting the original message to me while marking the return issue as "resolved"on the site? This is extremely irritating to have to send multiple messages while getting the same copy/paste reply back. I still received a R150 voucher from Takealot a day ago for being a loyal customer this year. Uh uh Takealot, why would you "reward" my loyalty by giving me the run around about a pricey return, which you surely should have some sort of guarantee for as the one selling it, but give me a R150 voucher (T & C's apply, you know what that means)? That's a slap in the face. I have spent thousands on your site this year and prior years and have never had an issue like this with you. I have always operated in good faith with you, so it sucks to see that you don't do the same.
