Broken TV, Broken Process, Broken Service – A Takealot Disaster
To the Takealot Team & Fellow Shoppers, I am writing to share my deeply disappointing experience, which highlights serious failures in Takealot's quality control, logistics, and customer service. After saving for a significant purchase, I ordered a R6000 television. Upon delivery, the screen was cracked and completely unusable. This is a fundamental failure to deliver a product in basic working order. The resolution process was equally frustrating. Instead of a simple exchange, Takealot opted for a convoluted system: a separate collection for the broken unit, delaying my replacement by over a week. This is not customer-centric; it's inefficient and disrespectful of a customer's time. Worst of all was the complete lack of human support. My attempts to resolve this were met with a wall of automation—over 30 identical, generic email replies from what appeared to be 9 different bot accounts. There was no empathy, no escalation, and no solution, just a loop of corporate indifference. This experience isn't just bad luck; it's a symptom of a broken system. Given Takealot's own reported annual losses in the hundreds of millions, it's clear that cost-cutting in logistics and customer care is having a direct, negative impact on the people who fund the business: its customers. I paid for a premium product and a reliable service. I received a broken item and a masterclass in how not to treat a customer. I cannot recommend Takealot for any valuable purchase until they fundamentally fix these core issues.will never ever use breakalot again
