Broken adjustable bench almost injured user

I recently bought adjustable work out benches. One works fine but the other one while my cousin was doing an incline dumbbell bench press the bench snapped. He could have been badly hurt especially if had been using a barbell. Now what has got me upset is I returned it to them to be replaced since it has a 12 month warranty. I get a message that return is rejected due to user fault . In what way this has a limit of 300 kg according to product description. And he was benching dumbbells which equate to light weights and it broke. This is wrong. You guys come up with some random assumption. I didn’t even get a call to try get some explanation of what happened from me. This is wrong and I always thought Takealot was better than this !!!
