Bottle of whisky goes missing before christmas ... no explanation, let alone replacement, ten days later.

I ordered three bottles of single malt as presents. A box arrived on 19 December ... with two bottles in it.

Mistakes happen, and I got in touch with Takealot's call centre to try and get the issue rectified before christmas day. The call centre agent said they'd first contact the warehouse to see if it was shipped, would hear back within twelve hours, and would then contact Mr Delivery, who couriered the other bottles.

I phoned back the next day, and had the same conversation with another agent with no knowledge of my initial query. I logged an email query.

I phoned back the next day. There'd still been no word from the warehouse. At this stage, on the 21st, I received a response to my email saying I would be notified as soon as feedback had been received.

On the 24th, after a couple more calls, I was copied in on an email asking for a new order to be placed, and letting me know I'd be notified when it had been.

Nothing. Nothing.

29th now, and I phone again. Spoke to an agent who said she'd escalate the request to place the order again, and would phone me once she'd done so. Would she phone me? She would. Though no one else had? She would.

Nothing.

Mistakes happen, and I appreciate that the run up to christmas is a particularly busy time. But: I have not once been proactively contacted about any detail of my query. I still don't know what happened to that bottle of whisky, whether I'll receive another, whether I'll be refunded, or when any of this might happen. This is ten days after receiving that suspiciously empty box.

Tldr:

Ordered booze via takealot for the first time, expecting convenience and a pleasant gift for my father. Will not order booze again as it suspiciously (in the absence of explanation) vanished en route. Will be weary of ordering anything else from takelot if I can get it from another online retailer due to their repeated and continued lack of communication in the aftermath.

Regards

Dan
