Beware: Takealot.com credit *****!
I'm reasonably convinced that Takealot.com internal staff are participating in organized Takealot.com account credit *****.
I had an order cancelled overnight on 13/03/2024, and subsequently (without asking me) credited my account for the items Takealot were allegedly no longer able to provide.
Less than 24 hours later, an order was placed for MTN airtime to the value of over R2700, consuming all of my Takealot.com account credit.
Here are the questions I've posed to ***
Why was a credit issued on my order instead of confirming the credit card transaction at the value after the credit - this is standard credit card practice? Bank account confirms still that the transaction is not finalized. Even if it was too late to alter the credit card transaction, why was a refund not issued to the credit card? How did the perpetrators know that a credit was issued on my Takealot account just 24 hours earlier? Do they log into my Takealot account every single day hoping to find a credit balance? If so, I'm sure you have extensive logs indicating logins from this same source IP every single day in recent months. You will need this evidence to prove that this was not an inside job? Why does Takealot not have controls to prevent these clearly *****ulent transactions (~R2800 of MTN airtime, when I've never purchased airtime from Takealot.. ya right.. show me an actual real customer who makes purchases like this? A credit card was used to cover the last R1 of the order such that my entire credit balance would be consumed. If you're going to claim that I did the *****ulent transaction, then kindly provide details of the card used for this R1 purchase (name on card & card number). Why, in 2024, does Takealot.com not offer two-factor or multi-factor authentication?
