BEWARE POSSIBLE CREDIT CARD HACKING AT TAKEALOT

BEWARE YOUR CREDIT CARD!! POSTING BECAUSE TAKEALOT WON'T PUBLICISE THIS!!

I have recently been getting emails from Takealot saying I still have items in my cart and did I forget to checkout. I most certainly have NOT added these items, they are completely random. What worries me is that it immediately links to checkout. As I have used Takealot numerous times, my credit card details are saved on the website.

If someone/something can add stuff to my cart, that means they needed to be logged into my account. That also means that they can proceed to checkout and see my credit card details. The CVV number is the only thing missing from my credit card details, therefore my account can't be used. They can't go beyond trying to checkout, therefore items lay in the cart. Takealot always emails when something is in your cart and you've not paid for it yet. This is how I became aware of stuff happening in my account without my knowledge.

It is so so dangerous, I have changed my password and removed all my card details from my account. This is very clearly a security breach on Takealot's side, so please be careful. It is 100% likely that Takealot won't admit this kind of breach, the fallout would be disastrous to their business. Remove your banking card details from your Takealot profiles and change your passwords, better safe than sorry.
