Beware cheap knock-offs on Takealot.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. Over the years Takealot has always been my go-to when it came to online purchases. However, recently I have found that with the influx of "external sellers" selling through Takealot the products being sold are more often incorrectly listed or cheap knock-offs of the product listed. My most recent experience was with a present for my young daughter. I ordered a robot dog which was supposed to do "tricks". When it arrived my daughter loved it, but it did not do any tricks and was quite different to the one on the listing, even the barcode on the box was different. I contacted Takealot and they apologised for shipping the wrong item and sent a courier to collect it and credited me the value. I then went on again and tried to order the correct item. All this while dealing with an unhappy child whose gift had to be returned. Well, the "correct" item arrived and it is the exact same cheap knock-off as the first time. Wrong specs, wrong barcode and yet Takealot still ships it. The sad fact is that there are genuine dealers who work through Takealot and do provide good products, but the ******** and Takealot themselves are ruining the experience. My advice is, if you are buying online, check who the supplier is, if they are reliable, and if possible, go to their website to order the item directly from them.
