I placed an order on takealot on May 22nd, order number ********** 9. In my order was a product the redragon Yama keyboard. This product had been on special for a few days for R1299. It still was that prices when I made the purchase. The expected delivery date was June 2nd. On June 1st I received an email stating that the order would be delayed by 2 to 3 working days due to supplier issues. Today I contacted takealot as it is the now the 4th working day and the order delivery status hasn't update. I was met with an email stating that my order is cancelled due to them. It being able to source the product. Interestingly the product is still available on takealot from the same supplier (ibar) at a higher price of R1399. So the supplier has it but because it's now more expensive my order made weeks before the price increase was cancelled. There seems to me to be some danger in shopping with takealot. This can not be a fair practice, nor can it be legal. According to the advertising act as well as the electronic communication act this is not legal. Yet we overlook these things. I demand as a consumer that my order be honoured as it is only fair. I have no doubt that all other consumers would agree. In addition I sold my R1000 keyboard to make this purchase, and now? What?again the product is still available and in stock on takealot from the same supplier, and other suppliers, the only thing that has changed is the price. Let me also state that takealot marks their products as being "fulfilled by takealot".
