Bad attitude and service from Takealot.
On Friday 11/12/2020 I was on Takealot.com to buy the appliance that I was reimbursed for by my insurance. I added the item to my cart and was about to make the payment when an unexpected customer walked in and I needed to help them.
Takealot sent me an e-mail at 15:39 to remind me to purchase the item @ R3199. Please note that this item wasn't on a limited time or item sale whatsoever. It did show in brackets that the normal retail price is a few rand more, but we all know that those figures on their site are bull****.
Please also keep in mind that I purchase from them on a regular basis, so I know their T's & C's and all the fine print ****.
So about 30 minutes after a got the e-mail, I was ready to complete the purchase. I clicked on the link on the e-mail to take me directly to my cart. Luckily I checked the amount before I checked out, because they were trying to charge me R3969 for the same item. BUT, it wasn't "in stock" at that price any more, it is "in stock" at R4999. So I contacted them and they promised me that they will look in to the problem and get back to me.
I contacted them again on the next day asking about the issue. The phone lines doesn't seem to work on Saturdays? One can purchase items on Saturdays though, really efficient when it comes to taking your money.
I then proceeded to log a complaint on their website. I have had the same lame excuse given twice that "sale item prices aren't guaranteed". This item wasn't on sale. I am willing to wait for their R3199 stock as well... They don't have an answer on their flashcards for that option though.
It is highly unprofessional for a company of their reputation to make mistakes like this. I now have to pay in for an item after I have been reimbursed from my insurance because of their mistake!
I finally figured out the origin of their name. They TAKE A LOT.
