Attempted to return a DVD

According to takealot's return policy, you have 30 days to return an item. They also claim the return process is simple and easy.

I received delivery of my DVD on 3rd November 2016, and on 26th November got my first chance to watch the dvd which revealed that the DVD was defective.

I then had a family emergency which required me to leave town, and after returning I logged the return using the takealot website on the 2nd December (30 days on the dot). My intention is to REPLACE the dvd as it is for my collection.

I received an email confirming that I can return the dvd within the next seven days (RRN-a71f-3930)

Upon arrival at the warehouse, I attempted to hand over the DVD for the return (We could see the return log on the system over the counter).

A call was made to the head of the returns team on the 5th December, to a man by the name of Ashley (Not 100% sure) and he proceeded to state that there was no return logged on the system and that he has no idea what an RRN was.

The call was extremely humiliating, as we could see on the system that there is clearly an entry and yet he was refusing to accept the return and refusing to acknowledge the reference email. They then started trying to make up reasons as to why they could not take the return, ranging from I've pirated the DVD(Why would anyone pirate a defective DVD?) to the return period only being 7 days (which is NOT what it says on the website).

This kind of service is completely unacceptable. I have evidence of the return being logged on Takealot's system, and it would be a great tragedy if I decide to never use the site again because of one persons incompetence or due to issues with the system.

The guy behind the counter did eventually accept the DVD but he indicated that he(The head of returns) is going reject the DVD (even though its defective) which sounds like someone is intentionally trying to ruin customer relations and sabotage Takealots attempts to give people good service.

Please sort this out Takealot!
