Apologies are not good enough...

Disapointment and frustration.... Those are (in their words) the feelings Takealot caused to this FIRST TIME CLIENT...

I ordered a set of Crochet hooks as a gift for my Mother's 70th Birthday off the Takealot site because they have "a good name and can be trusted."

My planning was done but Takealot dropped the ball.

Order for crochet hook set placed and paid 23 July 2023 for delivery 25th July 2023. To my delight got the sms for collection 24th July! Yay! Or so I thought....

Went to collection point. Scanned the QR code.... Assistant went to get the box from the back. Thought, boy that is a large box for a Crochet hook set, but okay.... Opend the box to find 20 multicolour plastic party favour glasses for kids (with a nose attached!)

Now.... If the wrong colour or wrong sized set was in the box I could (kind of) understand a innocent mistake was made during packing. BUT PLASTIC PARTY FAVOUR KIDS GLASSES!!?? Instead of Crochet hooks?

My Mother's 70th Birthday was in 2 days and the hook set was to be her gift.

As I said I was a first time costumer using Takealot. Had to figure our how to do a return, drive all the way back to the pick up piont and send it back. The return was loged 24th July around 5pm contacted Takealot on FB Messenger to see if I can find out how such gross failure in quality control during packageing could happen?

Takealot informed me that a return takes 7 - 10 days.... (70th Birthday gift was due to be given in 2.)

At no point did they give any explination to how the "mixup" happened. When I asked if I would be compensated in some way for the "disapointment and frustration" as they kept refuring to during the back and forth messages, each time they just apologized. Eventually the answer was that unfortunately, they could not offer any compensation in this case. And that was that.

I was unable to gift my Mother on her 70th Birthday because of their poor service and they only offer empty apologies!! That is not good enough in my book.

Would not recommend ordering from them unless you leave enough time for "disapointment and frustration" while waiting for the correct item to be shipped later.
