Another lost customer..

I placed my order on the 13th of December, and was given an estimated delivery date on my confirmation email of 21 December. With the long weekend taken into consideration and seeing as I stay in an outlying area, I was happy with the given date.

Fast forward to the 20th of December. I make a call to the takealot call centre and am told it will be delivered as scheduled. The next day I call again at about 11:30AM, to make sure that it would be delivered on time as promised.

On reaching the first operator I am told it would only be delivered on Friday 23 December. I tell her that I would not be available after the 21st as I have to travel for work etc. She promises to check in with the courier (Skynet) and get back to me. Still waiting for that one.

On the second attempt at 01:30PM I reach another operator, Faith. I explain my situation and that I would like a refund for the order, as these were Christmas presents and there’s no use in having them arrive late. With my money refunded I could at least still buy my family something for Christmas.

Faith tells me that not only is my parcel scheduled for delivery on the 28th now, but it has not yet even left their Cape Town warehouse. I ask her to please escalate my case so that I can be refunded, and she promises me that a manager will call me to discuss this mess.

I must state here that Faith was very helpful and friendly, I wish she had the authorization to help me more.

It is now 18:30PM and still nothing.

I feel cheated and sad – I have been a loyal customer for 7 years, back from when they were still Take2. Never has it been this bad. Their service and operations were always excellent. Always. Only in the last couple of months have I noticed a gradual decline in the experience offered to customers.

Now I have to keep calling and calling them just to get my money back. Hard-earned money that I wanted to use to make Christmas special for my family.

I trusted Takealot to do what they had always done – to make buying online easy and painless. Big mistake on my part.

Not only do I not have gifts for Christmas, but am also short a considerable amount of money that I may have used to get gifts somewhere else. Well done, Takealot. You have succeeded in actually making Christmas worse.

Takealot is not who they used to be. If you value your money, rather look somewhere else.

"We've got Christmas covered"??

What a joke.
