Pre-authorization process is a fail

I used to be an avid supporter of Sweep South, but since this pre-authorization process has been implemented there's been nothing but confusion and unnecessary complications. R184 was debited from my account for a service that I canceled 5 days before it actually took place. When I called Sweep South about this they were quick to blame my bank. I was told that the money was only being held, but would be paid back into my account in due course depending on the bank's turnaround time and that I should call the bank to find out when this would be done. I called the bank and was told that only Sweep South can authorize them to release the funds back to me and if this is not done within 14 days, the money would be released back to me automatically. Once again I called Sweep South (22/01/2020) and the agent I spoke to said that the person who would be able to assist with a resolution was not available, but that I could expect feedback that afternoon or the following morning. It is now 17:10 on the 23/01/2020 and no word from Sweep South. A "clean happy home" but the customer service sucks? I don't see the point. I am very reluctant to continue using or even recommending Sweep South...

Hello Michelle,

Thank you for your review.

This is extremely disappointing to read, and we sincerely apologise for your experience and the inconvenience caused by all of this as our intention is never to cause such distress.

An authorization hold is an amount of money that has not been charged to your account and will often be listed on your account as pending. The amount will only be charged on completion of a SweepSouth booking. Kindly note that if a client goes ahead and cancels the booking with us our system will not capture the pre-authorisation hold and this will automatically fall away. We do not have control of this hold and as it is managed by your bank and we encourage clients to contact their bank if they require further information regarding this.

However, we would like to sincerely apologise that this was not communicated to you better and you were not guided and supported more adequately with this. We would like to look into this further, Could you kindly provide us with your booking reference number or email address so that we may investigate this on our end.
We are terribly sorry once again about the frustration and confusion of the situation and hope this provides further clarification.
SweepSouth

Best regards,
