Defective watch face repair at my cost!
My husband purchased a R5000 Swarovski watch for me for Xmas. I wore it for the first time out to dinner on Boxing Day. I’d shown it off to friends as we were seated and it was in perfect condition. Halfway through the meal I realized that the face had cracked! A perfect straight line from top to bottom. A possible stress fracture as I’d certainly done nothing more than eat s meal. After being told multiple times by the manager at Swarovski that should there be any issues, I could use any Swarovski store to bring the product in. The following day I entered Swarovski at the Mall of Africa, where the product was purchased. I was “helped” by an employee called Lebo, who told me that she was unable to assist me and I should come back later when the area manager got there at midday. It was now 10am. Then she added that she wouldn’t be able to exchange the watch anyway as the warranty doesn’t cover the watch face! The she turned to help another customer. I returned at 13:30 and again Lebo “assisted” me by once again telling me that she can’t help me, the area manager is still not there and she sure that there’s nothing that can be done anyway. Then I got upset. This is a luxury item! A defective luxury item! It’s been worn for an hour and a half and the face has cracked. And Swarovski are telling me that they can’t help me?? I kicked up a fuss and the person who sold me the watch appeared. She took a photo of the watch and told me she would get back to me once everyone opened in the New Year. She did. Only to inform me that they would repair the watch face at my cost! How is this service? How can you sell a defective product and then ask me to pay to have it repaired? Disgusted with the brand and the service. R5000 on a watch that breaks the first time you wear it.
