A Month of Broken Promises, Excuses, and Incompetence

DO NOT BELIEVE THE 24-HOUR PROMISE. I walked into an MTN store on January 4th, excited to get fiber. I was promised installation within 24 hours. One full month later, I still do not have a working connection.

Here’s the month-long nightmare I endured instead:

The Runaround Begins: After hearing nothing for days, I was promised a technician. When he finally came, he said OpenServe needed to install a new port first. Fair enough—but this should have been identified before the "24-hour" promise.

The "Live" Line: OpenServe did come days later to make the line live. We had a family emergency, so we rescheduled.

The Shakedown: Next, two older technicians arrived. They looked at the job, refused to do it, and then had the audacity to ask us how much we were willing to pay them under the table to do their jobs. Absolutely unprofessional and *********. We reported it immediately.

The Refusal: After "escalation," another technician came over two weeks later. His reason? The job description was "incorrect," and he wouldn't work because he wouldn't get paid. Another report filed.

Total Abandonment: It is now February 4th. The line is supposedly live at the box, but my home is not connected. The case is marked "urgent," but there is zero communication, no follow-up, and no resolution.

The Real Cost: Beyond the frustration, this has cost me real money. Expecting uncapped fiber, I’ve had to rely on expensive mobile data for a full month, spending a ridiculous amount.

Final Verdict: This was not a simple delay. It was a cascade of failures: false advertising, gross incompetence, ********* behavior by subcontractors, and a total collapse of customer care and communication. MTN and their partners (Supersonic/OpenServ) have proven they cannot coordinate or fulfill a basic installation. Save yourself the stress, the data costs, and the anger. Look elsewhere.
