Misrepresentation, Gaslighting, and Zero Accountability – A Masterclass in Customer Disservice

Dear Superbalist Team (cc: Ombudsman in due course),

What a spectacular exercise in customer gaslighting. Kudos to Velani and the unnamed “tech team” for an award-worthy performance in dodging accountability with a straight face.

Let’s be crystal clear: • Your fragrances were advertised as on sale until 23:59 on 10 July 2025. • I attempted to make a purchase at 22:21 — a full 1 hour and 38 minutes before your clearly stated cut-off. • The items reflected full prices in the cart, and I logged an enquiry immediately. • Your response? Not ownership. Not a solution. But an audacious rewrite of reality claiming the sale ended at 20:00. Convenient.

Even more impressive is the patronising undertone — suggesting I’m “frustrated about missing a good deal” as if this were some emotional outburst rather than a legitimate complaint about false advertising and site malfunction during an active promotion.

You also conveniently forgot that your entire sales model runs on relentless promotional spam — emails, app push notifications, banners, SMSes — yet now we’re to believe that you *****th-launched a 1-day sale ending at 8pm with no warning? Please.

I’ve attached screenshots of the advertised sale time. I expect you have them too — unless your “tech team” also suffers from selective memory.

So let me ask: • What is the formal escalation process in your organisation for misrepresentation and unresolved technical faults during promotions? • Who at Superbalist takes ownership when your site fails during a sale, and customers are effectively denied advertised prices?

I’ll be forwarding this to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman, along with supporting evidence. Misleading advertising and poor customer support are not just bad service — they are ********* and possibly in breach of consumer protection legislation.

Your marketing team clearly knows how to create hype. Pity your support team can’t clean up the mess when the system breaks.

Looking forward to a proper response — ideally one that doesn’t insult my intelligence.

Kind regards,

Superbalist employees are definitely not ok and lack simple common sense. They are denying their own marketing emails knowing very well they every sale email they send to customers outlines the expiry date and time. Unbelievable! Below is their response.

Jay-Dee.W (Superbalist) Jul 13, 2025, 16:47 GMT+2 Hi Masi,

Thank you for providing the screenshots for our review.

After carefully examining the screenshots you provided, I do not see a specification indicating the sale would end at 23:59. I sincerely apologize that this is not the outcome you were hoping for.

Unfortunately, since the sale is no longer running, there are no changes we can make to the original pricing at this time.

Moving forward, if you encounter similar issues, we can:
Suspend the item for you, or
Accommodate your request in other ways
