Item on hold cannot be released back for me to buy

Good morning,

I am trying to buy a pair of aldo brown coroniti heels but size 6 is on hold for the past day. I called the call centre and the lady told me there is nothing she can do about it as the system will release the item from the shoppers cart whenever it feels like it and she doesn't know when. What sort of system is this? Seriously Superbalist will lose out on sales simply because the item is in someone else's cart and cannot be available to other serious shoppers? I find this to be rather ridiculous
