Super Communications = Super Customer Care

This week I've had the pleasure of experiencing customer service that is a paragon of how to build brand loyalty and clients for life.

For those with the time to read, sit back and relax as I take you on my consumer journey:

Last week I walked out of a massive retailer with the feeling that I was about to be **********. The retailer in question at first tried to sell me an i3 core laptop at i7 prices (I'm going to use i3, i5, and i7 to very generally describe processing power of laptops as I understand it; tech-experts I apologize) .

Now, I'm not much of a computer boffin, I don't know how to tell a good and reliable device from a useless one, and I definitely do not have the patience to watch the YouTube reviews on every laptop out there, and so I generally rely on the people selling me the products they should know everything about to make the best recommendation based on my needs.

Luckily for my naïve self, past experience with one such slow device had taught me enough to know better and upon raising my eyebrow the retailer magnanimously offered up an i5 laptop at the same price (still too expensive). I left, sans a much needed laptop, to research the aforementioned i5 laptop before committing.

The results of a quick Takealot search confirmed my suspicions, I'd narrowly avoided being **********; unbeknownst to me at the time was how fortuitous my narrow escape would prove to be...

...as I was cross-referencing laptop prices, an interesting phenomena kept popping up... i7 laptops at i5 prices 😱. Naturally I wanted to see who would dare ignore the business model my wily retailers employed, and, curiosity piqued, considered buying a refurbished laptop for the first time ever.

Having no prior experience (and knowledge if I'm being honest) of refurbished laptops to draw on, save for the misguided assumption that, "If somebody else doesn't want it, why should I" I was hesitant at first, but a scroll through Super Communications' Google reviews indicated that this was a business who took customer care seriously and was worth making contact with.

So I emailed the sales team with a pretty general enquiry, explicitly expressing my trepidations and not so explicitly exposing my tech-naivety. I was not expecting the response I received. It was detailed, thorough and best of all, easy to follow; I learnt more from that one concise email than I'd been able to scrounge from about two hours of googling and, most importantly, I felt tangibly reassured.

The ensuing email chain saw the sales team taking the time to really find out what I was looking for and going to be using the laptop for and then presenting me with six recommendations in my price range. (Sidebar: the specs of each device are well laid out on the Super Comms website; its wonderful to so easily see the details of the things you're weighing up against one another).

I made my selection and ordered the laptop, the sales team patiently confirming my order and follow ups through every step. Despite being based in Durban, my laptop arrived the next day, courtesy of Super Communications' free delivery. The laptop was safely packaged, came with a great Volkano laptop bag and wireless mouse (which I did not pay extra for), Windows 10 and a one year warranty, four things that that previously mentioned massive retailer definitely was not going to include. To top it all off, my i7 Core (16GB of Ram) refurbished laptop is a super fast, absolute delight to use and cost half of what that wily retailer wanted to charge (for example it has had no problem with the speed and ferocity with which I'm punching out this review).

I'll admit to all of you who've made it to this point of my essay that I see absolutely no reason to buy laptops from anyone other than Super Communications again and highly recommend getting in touch with their sales team if you're in the mood for a truly reassuring and satisfying customer experience.
