Damaged and theft
Hi i am writing this with a very heavy and saddened heart: We used stuttafords for our move from Benoni to Paarl 2 weeks ago. Stuttafords has such a good reputation that we did not take their insurance, well that was a very big mistake!!!!! When the furniture arrived i noticed the boxes we packed looked a bit rough, then i saw some of the furniture was scratched and chipped. WELL then the oak (solid oak) dinning room table and chars had be off loaded i was called to the truck and what did i see: a table top with no legs (it had legs on when it left Benoni) well i kept cool and they put it in my house, now when it came to the legs there were only 3 off loaded. Well 2 of the legs were broken off with a piece of the table top still attached to them, the other one was ripped out of the table top, now as for the other one who knows what happened to it. Well now after receiving some opened boxes and then finding 1 box is missing as well, we contacted Stuttarfords just to be told its not their problem. WELL MY FELLOW SOUTH AFRICANS IF YOU ARE MOVING PLEASE BY PASS THIS COMPANY IT HAS BEEN A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.
Dear Ms Maker,
A very good day to you!
I am deeply saddened by your description of what transpired during your move and I assure you that I shall leave no stone unturned to establish what transpired here that would leave you so negatively disposed towards your dealings with us.
I shall commence a thorough investigation first thing in the morning and report back to you without delay.
In the meanwhile, please accept my most humble and sincere apologies for this experience to date.
With best regards

Dear Ms Maker,
Surely it stands to reason that we have been actively busy trying to resolve this matter by finding the broken leg and then subsequently returning it to the restorer to try and repair your table!
It is really disappointing to learn of your incessant posting to social media sites, when it is evident that we are NOT running away from our responsibilities and undertaking towards fixing you table.
I apologise that we are not keeping you posted on the daily progress of these repairs, but this in itself is a process and we shall let you know when the table has been repaired to the best of our ability.
I feel that a simple email to myself or even a telephone call would have been sufficient in this regard and feel it prudent to remind all our readers on this forum that you did not take insurance, despite several reminders of the inherent risk of damage to furniture when moving, due to the odd shapes and sizes.
I shall request a feedback report from my Cape Town office to you in the morning.
Kind regards
Mel Potgieter
