Warning to Property Developers: Avoid STSS for Prepaid Electricity Meter Management

My recent interaction with STSS's representative, Kenneth, was a disaster from start to finish. It began when he incorrectly claimed I owed money for a non-existent charge, demonstrating a staggering lack of understanding and incompetence. He refused to top up my account with the funds sent until I paid this non-existent charge which he refused to elaborate on and articulated as though he had just learned English yesterday.

When I questioned him, Kenneth's responses were vague and unhelpful. It was only after I repeatedly pressed for clarification that he finally acknowledged the mistake. Throughout our conversation, Kenneth's lack of intellectual curiosity and basic problem-solving skills was glaringly apparent, making it difficult for him to navigate even the simplest of customer inquiries.

Furthermore, his tone and language betrayed a stunning deficiency in people skills, leaving me feeling frustrated, confused, and utterly unvalued as a customer. After realizing his error, Kenneth's apology was perfunctory and insincere, failing to acknowledge the inconvenience he had caused or take any responsibility for his mistake.

To add insult to injury, I've had to jump through hoops to get a refund for the incorrect charge. After sending my bank details, I was left in the dark for over 24 hours with no update or communication. It wasn't until I followed up that I received a response from another customer service representative, Gift, who lacked empathy and told me I'd have to wait an additional 2-4 days for my refund.

The fact that STSS's customer service team is so utterly inept is a damning indictment of the company's hiring practices and training protocols. It's clear that they're more interested in sweeping their mistakes under the rug than in providing decent customer service.

To STSS, I know you'll likely respond with a generic apology and assurance that you'll "look into" this matter. But let's be clear: empty words won't fix the problem. Sending your staff, including Kenneth and Gift, for real training on customer service, empathy, and basic competence is what will actually make a difference.

Until then, I would strongly advise others to avoid STSS and their inept representatives.

I sincerely regret the frustration you experienced during this process. Kenneth made a mistake, and while he did apologise, I acknowledge that the situation only became more frustrating from there. For that, I also want to personally apologise.  I’ve checked with our accounting team, and I understand they have been in touch regarding the outstanding documents, I have approved the refunds based on the documents received and your refund will be processed today.
