*******!!!
Stss have taken upon themselves to charge more than the stipulated ekukelni rate. My Body corporate are charging more already and between my landlord and Stss they are charging me almost 30c pkw extra!! Are they allowed to do that? My complex rate is - R1.25, Stss are charging me at a rate of R1.60.. It makes a huge difference and we end up paying almost R300 more every month!! For every R100 i put in, we only get 60units!! Thats a 40% Charge extra!! Soon for every R100 ill only get like 40units!! When i call to complain they say you knew what we would charge every month!! Are they nuts!! They say they take a 10% service fee. Which on R1.25 should only take me to like R1.35 something.. This is also after our complex has already put the rate up to the R1.25! I will be taking the matter to social media and news. I work at Times Media and will make sure to get the news out there about them! Its disgusting!! Then to top it off, there customer service is so terrible! So rude, unhelpful and arrogant! They act like they own me on the phone or i owe them some kind of favours for billing me wrong! Its been a couple months now and i have had it!! nothing has been sorted out!!
It seems you are confused with regard to who is responsible for which aspect of your complaint. All calls to STss are recorded and you have only made one call to our call centre regarding an electricity token on 30 August, when your partner requested an emergency token. The recording confirms that at no time during the call was our customer service below standard.
We have investigated the matter with your managing agents who confirm that they explained the following when you called them on 27 July:
City Power increased rates on 1 July 2015. The new recovery rate required by the Body Corporate from 1 July 2015 is R1.41 kWh which excludes the STss token vending fee. The fee including the vending fee is R1.58 per kWh.
The July 2015 levy statement which is billed in arrears has the June 2015 electricity consumption at the old rate at R1.25 kWh. The August 2015 levy statement had the increased consumption rate at R1.41 kWh. These prices exclude the prepaid token vending fee.
It is your Body Corporate and not STss who establish the recovery rate.
