overcharging of electricity by stss

They are over charging us. how can R500 of electricity last less than a week? we have even resorted to not switching on the tv, keeping the lights off, cooking every other day. the only thing that stays on is the fridge so how can R500 only last less than a week? i do not recommend staying in a place that uses stss.
