Irritated !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot use my mobile app to buy electricity.

R100 deducted and not appearing on statement.

Apparantly, the more you pay for electricity the less units you get.

Why is there a service fee? What service do they give?

A credit card fee was charged eventhough a debit card was used, absolutely mind blowing.

Previous meter was much better, no extra service fee, no blind costs.

I got what i payed for... Electricity.

Keep on robbing South Africans, apparently we can afford it.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to explain the prepaid process to any user who is unsure as to how the system operates.

The electricity in your entire complex is vended at the same recovery rate, currently at R1.78 per kWh. The rate will remain the same, regardless of the size of your transaction, and every user is charged at this rate.

You do not mention the specific mobile app that you are using, but there are various apps available in the market. As alternatives to a local baking application, you are able to make use of Prepaid24.com and PowertimeOnline. Using your meter number to register, you are able to conveniently transact in electricity tokens.

Please note that your payment method will have an impact on your charges. If you make use of master card/visa card payments, you will be paying a charge to the third party, in this instance, the merchant bank, who charge a 3.5% fee. e.g. If you use your card and transact for R100, you will only have R96.50 available for your token. At the current prepaid rate, of R1.78, you will get a 54 kWh for your R100.

Alternative payment methods via third party suppliers are available, such as Unipin, Easypay and Cash deposits. We have found that the most cost effective method of payment is an electronic funds transfer as you will only be charged a minimal bank charge from your local banking platform.

With regard to the R100 charge, all prepaid meters are pre-programmed with a R100 take-on token after installation. This allows the user to have electricity cover until they are able to request their first token. This R100 credit is recoverable as a once-off, in your very first transaction. The R100 take-on credit should appear on your statement. Please forward us your statement if this has not reflected on your account.

We trust the above explanation will assist you, but should you have further queries, please contact our call centre on 0860 ST CARE, ***or ********** .
