Dissapearing Electricity Units
<p>I'm one of the unfortunate people who are forced to purchase electricity through stss as this is the only option within my complex.</p> <p> </p> <p>Apart from paying an insanely high tariff per unit electricity I also want to know how it is possible that 43 units can simply dissapear from my prepaid meter in my absence. </p> <p> </p> <p>I was away on holiday for 3 weeks and everything was switched off. The only power supply I left on was the power to my fridge. Everything else was switched off at the circuit board.</p> <p> </p> <p>How is this possible to use so much electricity in my absence with only an energy efficient fridge that was switched on?</p> <p> </p> <p>Don't give me one of your standard responses that there might be something wrong with my fridge or electricity supply and that I need an electrictrician to check on this. I already made sure that there is nothing wrong on my side.</p> <p> </p> <p>So please do all of us unlucky stss customers a favour and explain yourselfs as this is simply not on and bear in mind that I will not be happy with a simple cut and paste response. I want an valid answer to my consern and a suitable solution.</p>

Based on your information, 43kwh in three weeks does seem high, considering that you have an energy efficient fridge, and that all you other appliances, including your geyser, were switched off. We will arrange with our appointed electrician to investigate, by installing a check meter.
In terms of electricity, STss does not sell electricity. The electricity is supp**** by Cape Town City Power, via a bulk meter for the estate. STss collects consumption via the token system, on behalf of the Body Corporate, and it is the board of trustees who set the rate per Kwh based on the overall cost of supply from Cape Town City Power.

When will this check meter be installed?
It really doesn't concern me what exactly the role of STSS isin the electricity supply business. The fact that stss conducts business in this way by ignoring the fact that your clients are forced to pay above industry standard electricity tariffs says a lot about the ethics of stss. If you really care about your clients you will address this matter.

Its a month after my complaint and the matter has still not been resolved.
Now Im sitting with a testing meter but my electricity units keeps on dissapearing without me actually using it.
Solve this matter already. Ive been more than patient.
