Sterns Mall of Africa terrible returns policy

My friend recently bought me a Tempo watch from Sterns. I didn't like the style and she gave me the receipt to return the watch so I could buy something else. When I went to Sterns they said that they only do cash returns. Unfortunately I didn't see any watches that I liked enough to do an exchange .The problem is that most people buy using their debit cards. The consultants at Stern's said that they would call when they had cash on hand. It has been 2 weeks and I have not received any calls to go and make the return. Despite going to the shop twice and making calls to the shop to check if they have cash, I still haven't been able to do the return. The returns window expires on the 25th of June and after a time like Fathers Day and since it's month end, I am losing hope that I'll be able to return the watch in time. I think it's very strange in this day and age for such an established business to have such an outdated returns policy. It discourages people from buying from the store especially since jewellery is so often bought as a gift for people that may not like the choice. Not many people walk around with large sums of money to buy jewellery. This experience makes me want to discourage anyone from shopping at Stern's because it's not worth the trouble if you can't return a purchase you're dissatisfied with.
