Passport not proof enough of identification! #REALLY!

After being a victim of a smash and grab and having to go through the process of of replacing my ID ,drivers license and a few cards. When I requested a new store card from sterns they asked me for my drivers license or ID which I told them was ****** but I did have my passport and proof of address. That was not good enough as Chad from the call center informed me....I asked to speak to his supervisor and he referred me to a Mr Ollhson who told me the same thing....I asked him so what happens if I want to make a purchase.....he said I should wait until I get my ID or drivers license.....All other stores replaced my cards when I gave them proof of identity using my passport...even the bank gave me a temporary card. I strongly suggest that Sterns review their policy. It’s already traumatizing going through such an experience and to still have to deal with companies who do not assist in one returning to one’s normal state of affairs is frustrating to say the least.
