Verbal abuse

Good Day.

On 17 September at 12:28pm My wife , sister and I were victims of extremely rude verbal behaviour expressed in a loud and abrupt manner in front of many customers by Hamzah Marais. This happened while the manager on duty stood far away only observing and not coming to our aid.

The bad treatment by your Shift manager started when he said "these girls are not 18 and I won't allow them to enter ".

He was referring to my wife and sister. My wife questioned his tone and comment when he reacted and shouted at her that she is a girl and probably don't have an ID.

I then stepped in and told him that if he is calling my wife a girl out of pure assumption then I have all the right to call him a boy?

He then moved his body and face right in front of mine shouting in rage..."Call me boy again and you will see what I will do to you!"

By this time a small crowd of customers have formed and I asked for a refund .

He continued arguing with me pointing his finger at me and telling me that I am not allowed to record him on my personal cell phone. FYI my camera option on my personal phone was on but that was for my own protection. I did not capture any video or photographic content of any sort.

I told him that his behaviour is unacceptable and that he has no right to treat 2 woman in such a way. This can be seen as verbal abuse. Creating a damaging reputation for Ster Kinekor.

After I said this he called the manager and told the manager. For the first time we had the opportunity to speak to the manager on duty who apologized and said that he didn't want to involve himself.

I trust that you will follow proper steps to address this and avoid it happening to someone else.

Reviewer Update
In conclusion to the above complaint. We received a phone call from Shouneez BaghasHead of Guest Experience | Ster-Kinekor Theatres.

We were asked to give them one week to investigate this event.

Also we were awaiting feedback as to why we never received our refund .- we never received this follow up and still didn't receive a refund.

We experienced both a phsycological and financial inconvenience due to the poor service and after sales service from Ster Kinekor staff.

We urge Ster Kinekor management to train their staff in a manner that is lawful and just that supports the customers experience and expectation whilst making them feel safe .

From what we have experienced there is a major lack in customer service especially from management and top management.

The kind of behaviour expressed towards females in light of the recent awareness of woman abuse both physically and verbally should be an encouragement to not treat woman in the way expressed in the previous complaint.

Regards.
