Terrible movie experience

I wish I could give Ster Kinekor Somerset West minus zero star ratings, as they deserves that. We went to see a film on Sunday afternoon at 14:30. When we arrived, all the machines were offline, so you could only buy tickets at the popcorn counter. Only one person (!) was serving and selling tickets, so after waiting in the queue for 25 min and not moving, we bought tickets online. The cinema was absolutely freezing. We had to go out and find someone to turn it down. When the movie started, the lights on the sides of the cinema did not dim and go off as they should, so again I had to get up to go and look for someone to turn them off. It took almost 10 minutes and we could hardly see the screen because of the light. I had to leave the cinema for a third time to complain about the image that was so dark that we couldn't see peoples faces whenever there was a night time scene, which was most of the time. As this was a sensitive drama, the power of the entire film depends on people's facial expressions. The Ster Kinekor usher told me that they often have a problem with the projector in the cinema we were in, and that he will speak to the projectionist. It never improved and we had no feedback, and that was after paying R249 for two people for a movie!

When the film was over we asked to see the manager. I started out by calmly telling her about our experience and that we expect a refund or vouchers. She looked at us blankly, did not offer ANY apology and said she can only give us a voucher if there was a technical error up to 45 min into the showing. I told her that there was, but she ignored me. She did not acknowledge any of our issues, even when I repeated them 3 times with increased anger. She said that nobody else complained, to which we rep**** that we were the only people in the cinema. When I told her that I did complain and that I had to get up three times because of all the problems she asked ME why her staff member didn't tell her about it! I said to ask him, to which she rep**** that he is on a break. I then suggested that she phones him, but she ignored that too. She then said that we can go back in and watch the film again, even though none of the projection issues had been addressed or even acknowledged. We said that we obviously cannot go and see it again immediately and that my friend lives in Cape Town and needs to get back. She continued to refuse to acknowledge our bad experience and continued to refuse to apologise or give us any vouchers. I eventually demanded to speak to the regional manager. She ignored this too. After 15 minutes of arguing, she just walked off and into the back office without a word. After another 5 minutes I asked another staff member what is going on. He said she was on the phone, even though she did not communicate any of this. She eventually came out and agreed to give us two vouchers. I have honestly never in my life dealt with such an ***********, dismissive and rude person. I had to say to her several times 'have you not heard a word of what I just said?!' She (Sevel Demon) should not be employed in any customer service position ever in her life. I will never go back to this cinema again. What an awful way to end a weekend.
